I bought this easycap unit to replace a more expensive one i bought recently that didn't seem to be compatible with the Golden Videos software i wanted to use to capture vhs tape to my 32bit vista laptop - and it turned out to be a very good impulse buy - the drivers installed first time, and once connected via rca composite cable to the vcr i immediately got a good quality video and audio signal - no dropped frames, and clear stereo sound capture...
The instructions warned me to install the drivers FIRST - by putting the disc in the drive, and clicking the 'install drivers' option, and to only insert the easycap into the usb socket AFTER this was achieved - windows found the composite, and audio interface drivers in it's own memory, but i had to open the disc drive, and reinsert the disc when prompted, to let windows search for the 'video capture controller' driver, which it found on the disc,and installed in a few seconds - and success! - good picture, good sound, and using NCH Golden Videos freeware rather than the complicated ulead software that comes with the easycap, i began to transfer my collection of vhs movies and shows to the laptop...
great value, great results, and as the name says, EASY to use - 5/5

I was beginning to think I'd have to spend a lot of money on a dvd recorder but this little gadget has converted 9 full tapes to digital from my old analogue camcorder and I've burned the movies to dvd. What's more, the quality is every bit as good as on the tapes. A tip: make sure the audio input is set to USB and not "Line In".

For a start the price was such, that it was worth taking a risk to see if it worked as I had tried some of the more expensive versions loaned to me by freinds to get an idea of what I needed.
It exceeded all my expectations and it is not only very easy to use, but does the job it is said to do.
Thanks a great item that has got more than its monies worth of work out of it.

I personally use mine to record gameplay from my ps3. Alot of people complain the quality is awful but they're either capturing or rendering in the wrong settings, search on youtube and get advice from fellow users. All in all a great product that is cheap and i wouldn't hesitate to simply buy another one if it breaks. Oh and ps3 users, there is no way in playing in hd but recording in sd, which kinda sucks but you get used to it.

I am very pleased with this product. I have an apple Macbook pro laptop (2008 with Snow Leopard). The software that came with the Easycap was not suitable as it was for PC Xp and vista but I downloaded a free application which is called Easycap Viewer. This copied video from source - RCA Video and sound from an RCA Red white to double jack for input into the Macbook. The picture and sound were brilliant - DVD quality. This is a briliant video capture card, so easy to use and with no flaws. A movie file was created on the desktop. This was then imported easily into iMovie 9 where it could be easily edited and then burned onto DVD with iDVD with NO loss of quality. I would definitely recommend this product.
