5 out of 5 stars Review of Acer D250 netbook   November 23, 2009

I bought this netbook last week and I am totally in love with it. I'm a windows user and find that while this has windows XP it loads up reasonable fast, has all the applications you would want, including a word processor in Microsoft Works. The screen is great and it hooked up to my wireless network automtically.
Its light weight, handy to carry, feels sturdy enough, the camera if ok - this netbook is well worth the money.

5 out of 5 stars Great Netbook   March 5, 2010

My initial thoughts about this Netbook;

*Delivery: Superb, came the next working day.

*Looks: Very nice, I got this Netbook in red, and its very sleek and glossy. One thing I would say is that the 6 cell battery is large, but its a small price to pay for the extra battery life over the normal 3 cell battery, and after a while you don't notice the larger battery.

*Weight: As expected the 6 cell battery is heavier than the 3 cell version but it's no heavier than carrying around a few school books. Not heavy at all, good job.

*Power: Doesn't at all feel underpowered. Has coped fine so far, no freezes.

*Dual Boot: This Netbook comes pre-installed with dual boot Windows XP & Google Android. Personally I can't really seeing myself using the Android partition but you never know, its not doing any harm and its a nice feature to have.

*Noise: Quiet as a mouse, a welcome break from the constant whirring that you often get from the fans in bigger laptops.

*Heat: No problem at all with overheating. Cool enough to use on your lap for extended periods of time comfortably.

*Battery Life: Great, i'm glad I got the 6 cell battery.

*Boot time: About 1 minute 10 secs from off to being ready to use, very nice as being able to surf on demand is important to me.

*Keyboard: No problems there, page up & down keys located above the arrow keys are very useful. The size is more than adequate, I am typing on it now with no fatigue or mistakes.

*First time connecting to the internet: Easy as pie, connected to my WiFi in seconds.

*WiFi range: Good, surpasses the WiFi on my HTC Hero smartphone, being able to get signal in places that my HTC cannot. (My house is medium/large size.)

*Peripherals: Webcam is of decent quality for msn and such, mic quality is fine, plenty of USBs, has a VGA out & a 3 in 1 card reader too, aswell as your standard mic in, headphones out 3.5mm jacks. I might add, the speakers are weak but the quality is not bad for a Netbook/Laptop. Not quite as good as my Dell Inspiron 6000.

**Overall: Worth buying if your looking for a small, lightweight Netbook. Don't expect HD gaming or amazing multi tasking as you'll be barking up the wrong tree. With its 1.6ghz Atom processor and 1GB of ram it can easily handle web browsing, youtube video streaming & word processing, which is perfect for most people. Would definatly recommend :)

Thanks for reading, Doug.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant!!...small,compact little unit & good value for money!   November 10, 2009

I was looking for 2 mini laptop for a few months for Christmas presents for my 11 & 12 year old son & daughter & trying to make sure I got a unit that was going to be easy for them to use.The acer mini laptop comes with easy applications, brilliant colours & it weights next to nothing & the 6 hr battery was a definate selling point as I found most negitive feed back from other sources was because of lack of battery life. The delivery of the items was very quick as they arrived 3 days after ordering them...I would fully reccommend amazon to anyone...this was my first time using the site but it won't be my last!.....there's going to be too happy little faces in my house at Christmas...thankyou amazon!!!

Neat.....really, really neat. It is so light, so small, so easy to transport. I find the keyboard fine for typing. I have only had this computer 10 days and I love it.

5 out of 5 stars good, lightweight, useful, userfriendly   March 19, 2010

- does what it says on the box... bought for my wife to keep her away from my laptop... but now I too, find it very useful, when reading or watching movies in bed, laptop would be too heavy for this task
- and yes, battery lasts for ages (4.5 - 5 hrs) compared to laptop's 1 hr... simply, an iPad killer device as it supports flash on websites ;-) and can be used as a phone or even a video phone in combination with SKYPE... (iPad cannot)
... what else does one need from 200 quid device
... one more thing, it plugs into 22" monitor or 32" tv ... (iPad doesn't)... ignore my iPad comments you apple "funs" ... but Steve J has made a huge mistake disabling flash based content...
